Paulina Karasiotou

General Secretary of Fiscal Policy

Paulina Karasiotou is an economist, a graduate of the Department of International and European Economic Studies of the Athens University of Economics and Business. She completed her MSc in Economics at University College London and holds a PhD in Economics from the Universite Catholique de Louvain. The subject of her doctoral thesis was the relationship between education and the labor market. Since 2005 he has been an executive of the Public Administration and since 2009 an executive of the Ministry of Finance (General Accounting Office of the State). In the period 2012-2014 she worked as an advisor to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance (2012-2014) and Director of the Office of the Secretary General for Economic Policy (2014-2015). During this period he dealt with issues of privatizations, state aid and general economic policy.

From 2019 until today, he served as General Secretary of Social Insurance of the Ministry of Labour. As Secretary General of Social Insurance, he was particularly concerned with the issues of liquidation of pending pensions, the institutional framework of social security, but also with the assessment and certification of disability, in particular with the reform of the digital KEPA and the Disability Determination Table. In addition, he is one of the main contributors to the reform of the supplementary insurance for young people (TEKA) and in 2022 he was the President of the Temporary Steering Committee of the Capitalized Auxiliary Insurance Fund.

He speaks English, German, French and has knowledge of Dutch and Spanish. She is married and the mother of two daughters.
