General Secretary of Economic Policy & Strategy

George Christopoulos is an economist who holds a PhD from Maastricht University, an MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a BSc from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He previously served as the Deputy Governor of Greece’s Public Employment Service (DYPA) and had a central role in the management of Greece’s national Recovery and Resilience Plan. He has held the position of Senior Advisor to the Minister in the Greek Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy, specializing in the design and implementation of EU-funded investment projects.

George Christopoulos is also an affiliated researcher at UNU-MERIT, a UN think tank focusing on the economic impact of innovation. In this context he has co-authored policy reports on behalf of the European Commission.
